Verdal IL was one of 34 clubs from Norway that had teams playing during Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2019. They participated with three teams in Gutter 14 (født 2005), Jenter 13(født 2006) and Jenter 14 (født 2005) respectively. Two teams played until Final in Slutspel A; Jenter 13(født 2006) won over Astor Fotballklubb by 4-0 but Gutter 14 (født 2005) lost against Stjørdals-Blink Fotball by 0-4.

In addition to this, Verdal IL have participated in Trønderavisas Fotballcup before. During Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2018, Verdal had 4 teams playing in Gutter 13 (født 2005), Gutter 14 (født 2004), Jenter 13 (født 2005) and Jenter 14 (født 2004) respectively. The team in Jenter 13 (født 2005) made it to the the in Gruppspel, but lost it against Egge IL by 0-6.

Verdal comes from Verdal which lies approximately 36 km from Steinkjer, where Trønderavisas Fotballcup takes place. The area around Verdal does also provide 11 additional clubs participating during Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2019 (Among others: Vuku IL, Inderøy IL, Vinne IL, Egge IL, Sparbu IL, Steinkjer FK - Fotball, Skogn IL, Sp.kl.
