Sparbu IL was one of 22 clubs from Norway that had teams playing during Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2022. They participated with four teams in Gutter 13 (født 2009), Jenter 13(født 2009) and Jenter 14 (født 2008) respectively. Two teams played until Final in Slutspel A; Gutter 13 (født 2009) Sparbu/Sørlia 1 won over Charlottenlund Sportsklubb 1 by 5-0 but Jenter 13(født 2009) lost against Verdal IL by 1-5.

In addition to this, Sparbu IL have participated in Trønderavisas Fotballcup before. During Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2021, Sparbu had 4 teams playing in Gutter 13 (født 2008), Gutter 14 (født 2007), Jenter 13(født 2008) and Jenter 14 (født 2007) respectively.

Sparbu comes from SPARBU which lies approximately 12 km from Steinkjer, where Trønderavisas Fotballcup takes place. The area around SPARBU does also provide 11 additional clubs participating during Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2022 (Among others: Sp.kl. Nessegutten, Verdal IL, Følling IL, Vuku IL, Vinne/Verdal, Verdal/Vinne, Steinkjer/Sørlia/Sparbu, Egge IL 9èr, Steinkjer FK - Fotball and Beitstad FK).
