Verdal IL was one of 22 clubs from Norway that had teams playing during Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2022. They participated with four teams in Gutter 14 (født 2008), Jenter 13(født 2009) and Jenter 14 (født 2008) respectively. Two teams played until Final in Slutspel A; Jenter 13(født 2009) won over Sparbu IL by 5-1 and Jenter 14 (født 2008) won over Steinkjer FK - Fotball by 2-0.

In addition to this, Verdal IL have participated in Trønderavisas Fotballcup before. During Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2021, Verdal had three teams playing in Gutter 13 (født 2008), Jenter 13(født 2008) and Jenter 14 (født 2007) respectively.

Verdal comes from Verdal which lies approximately 36 km from Steinkjer, where Trønderavisas Fotballcup takes place. The area around Verdal does also provide 9 additional clubs participating during Trønderavisas Fotballcup 2022 (Sp.kl. Nessegutten, Vuku IL, Vinne/Verdal, Verdal/Vinne, Steinkjer/Sørlia/Sparbu, Egge IL 9èr, Steinkjer FK - Fotball, Egge IL and Sparbu IL).
